Poznan Medical Image Computing Forum 2017 was held on 16 May 2017 in the Conference Centre of Poznan University of Technology (Poland). The Keynote Speaker was prof. Ron Kikinis, the founding Director of the Surgical Planning Laboratory, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA and a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. His speech was called „Medical Image Computing (MIC): We are living in interesting times”. Second speaker, Karol Miller - Winthrop Professor of Applied Mechanics at The University of Western Australia titled his presentation „Paradigm shift in biomechanics. No more research on mechanical properties of tissues”.

The Biomedical Conference took place on 18th of November at Poznan University of Technology.

The event was divided into three parts:

  • Biomechanics, the audience could listen about human musculoskeletal system disorders, implants and Computer Aided Surgeries;
  • Orthopaedics, which concerned amputation procedures and types of limb prostheses;
  • Presentation of Reasearch Groups and Projects from Poznan University of Technology.

On 20th May 2016, at the Poznan University of Technology was held a special session with Karol Miller, Winthrop Professor of Applied Mechanics, Director of Intelligent Systems for Medicine Laboratory from University of Western Australia. The title of the lecture was: "Computational biomechanics for medicine: success stories from neurosurgery planning and vascular engineering".

Leader of the Virdiamed project, prof. Tomasz Kotwicki welcomed gathered listeners and prof. Karol Miller gave his speech. After lecture, MScEng Dominik Gaweł presented selected algorithms for medical diagnostics support.
