Poznan Medical Image Computing Forum 2017 was held on 16 May 2017 in the Conference Centre of Poznan University of Technology (Poland). The Keynote Speaker was prof. Ron Kikinis, the founding Director of the Surgical Planning Laboratory, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA and a Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. His speech was called „Medical Image Computing (MIC): We are living in interesting times”. Second speaker, Karol Miller - Winthrop Professor of Applied Mechanics at The University of Western Australia titled his presentation „Paradigm shift in biomechanics. No more research on mechanical properties of tissues”.

During the second part of the conference the audience was acquainted with present stage of Virdiamed project, which is led by prof. Tomasz Kotwicki. Speakers highlighted the need of utilisation 3D human tissues models in diagnostic field and the potential of using Virdiamed Platform in hospital environment.

The speeches’ topics provided opportunities to discuss major trends and challenges in the area of medical imaging and its appliances.
